Hi, I’m Danny
Ahmad Danny an experienced journalist with bylines in the Washington Post, The Guardian and Foreign Policy. His history of working with organizations in the Middle East as well as his personal experience as a Syrian refugee have made Ramadan passionate about volunteerism, democracy, social justice and LGBTQ refugees’ rights. He works at the not-for-profit sector in British Columbia. He was also the Grand Marshal for Vancouver’s Gay Pride Parade 2016. He has previously authored two collections of short stories in Arabic. The Clothesline Swing is his first novel in English. He lives in Vancouver, BC.
MY TIME IS DIVIDED BETWEEN
In his new community in Vancouver, Danny has found a place to explore all of his interests and to expand on his knowledge through his passion as an author, his work as an LGBTQ-refugees Activist, his talent as a storyteller and his dream job working in the Not-for-profit sector.
- His debut novel, The Clothesline Swing, is published by Nightwood Edition, a partner to Harbour Publishing House.
- He has raised over $80.000 in funds for LGBTQ-identifying refugees and supported 18 people to find refuge in Canada.
- He is a public speaker and a storyteller, who was a keynote speaker at the Liberal Party Convention in Winnipeg 2016, and a TEDx talk presenter.
- He is currently the Community Outreach Coordinator at QMUNITY. BC's Queer Resource Centre.
